It is with great sadness that we advise that our 2009 Kerrick Series champion, Des Wall, passed away late on November 27 after a four month battle with brain cancer.

Des was competitive right to the end with a podium finish at his last event at Eastern Creek on July 15 and winner of the Trans-am class. Shortly after the Eastern Creek event Des was diagnosed with a brain tumour and was unable to continue racing his well presented Corvette.

Whilst his performances on the track and his victories spoke volumes for his ability behind the wheel it was respect for his fairness, gentlemanly nature and dedication to his family that equally impressed the motorsport community.

News of Des’s passing has seen a flood of tributes come in amid messages of condolence to his direct and extended family. The management, staff and sponsors of the Kerrick Sports Sedan Series also pass on their condolences to Vicki, David, Kristie and the extended Wall family.

Des had many close friends amid the Sports Sedan community and will be sadly missed.
